2 separate computers and different games I have updated drivers and the game had issues. This last time I updated drivers after ignoring driver updates for about a year and after updating drivers, the game has lag spikes now(Apex) when it ran just as fine before the driver update and without the lag spikes!
Seems like the first few driver versions actually do improve features, but anything beyond a year or so just handicaps your GFX card making you think it’s time to go spend more on a new card when it actually is the drivers ruining your card.

Comment on Best Class for WoW Classic – What Class Should You Pick? by Lawson https://www.gamingfeature.com/best-class-for-wow-classic/#comment-2090 Sat, 05 Sep 2020 07:26:05 +0000 https://www.gamingfeature.com/?p=7491#comment-2090 Druid has great QoL features when solo, probably 2nd only to Mage in that regard. They’re extremely well-rounded and have no obvious weaknesses… but in that same vein, once you get into group content at 60, being well-rounded isn’t what people want. They want the BEST melee DPS (Fury/Rogue). The BEST ranged DPS (Mage). The BEST healer (Priest/Pally). The BEST tank (Warrior). Druids can do all of those things, except ranged DPS because boomkin is just awful… however they aren’t really great at any of it.

Comment on What is Mouse DPI and Polling Rate – What Is Best for Gaming? by Contrabardus https://www.gamingfeature.com/mouse-dpi-polling-rate/#comment-2080 Sun, 30 Aug 2020 06:06:32 +0000 https://www.gamingfeature.com/?p=899#comment-2080 This isn’t really correct.

The best polling rate varies. For modern games, 500hz is best, but a lot of older games don’t support polling rates that high, and having it set too high will actually cause lag and be less accurate.

1000hz polling rates don’t matter. Only a robot can tell the difference between a 1000hz and 500hz polling rate, and all turning it up over 500 does is use more CPU cycles. You could actually impact performance enough with 1000hz that it could actually be worse than 500hz depending on your CPU.

One example of a game where high polling rates have a negative impact would be Classic Doom and Doom II, even using a source port like GZDoom the games don’t support more than a 125hz polling rate.

Build engine games are another good example of games where a 125hz polling rate is better, that’s games like Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Ion Fury, Redneck Rampage, etc…

As for DPI…

You want higher DPI, with lower sensitivity.

You want as much of your effective sensitivity to be hardware rather than software for the best accuracy, with no smoothing or acceleration.

Even with a 16,000 DPI mouse, in some games you will need to bump the sensitivity up a notch or two, but generally you want it as close to 0 as you can get it and still be able to move the mouse around the screen comfortably.

In some cases this might be too sensitive even at the lowest sensitivity setting, but in those cases it is better to lower DPI rather than bump up sensitivity.

In Windows settings having mouse sensitivity at around 50% is generally a good place for it to be. Turn it down rather than up, as low as 25% could be good for some people and some games.

Sensitivity set in Windows is better than in game sensitivity settings for accuracy. You want as few “middle men” that impact sensitivity between your hardware and the OS as you can get.

If a game has a raw mouse input setting, use that.

Check out Onepeg’s video on it.

Comment on Best LGA 1150 CPU by Rob https://www.gamingfeature.com/best-lga-1150-cpu/#comment-1690 Sat, 13 Jun 2020 12:02:51 +0000 https://www.gamingfeature.com/?p=9295#comment-1690 Hi Alex, interesting article thanks. I’m slightly curious as to why there’s no mention of the i5-4690K? this was a great CPU, I got mine overclocked and stable at 4.4 GHz (did hit 5 GHz but was pretty unstable) so i’m guessing at a stable 4.4GHz OC it’s out performing the locked i7-4790 and was much cheaper

I guess my question or article request would be “Whats the best GPU for i5-4690k in 2020?”
I don’t have a great GPU (GTX 760) and was thinking of upgrading it, but have read a few articles about balancing GPU and CPU which has left me slightly confused that the CPU might not be able to cope with say a RTX 2080. I’d ideal like something that can ray trace and handle VR but I don’t particular want to fork out a new motherboard/CPU/RAM, and also don’t want to fork out for an expensive GPU that my computer couldn’t get the best out of.

Comment on Wired vs Wireless Gaming Headset – Are Wireless Headsets Good for Gaming? by Simon https://www.gamingfeature.com/wired-vs-wireless-gaming-headset/#comment-1356 Tue, 03 Mar 2020 08:04:25 +0000 https://www.gamingfeature.com/?p=3934#comment-1356 another major wired vs wireless headphone is the latency of the audio. traditional BT headphone has latency around 100ms to 200ms. It will be very slow for playing those high demand game such as PUPG. Wired headphone had no such issue. My company is developing a 10ms Ultra low latency BT dongle set. You just need to plug in your wired headphone to my receiving dongle. It can receive the audio from PC with 10ms latency. I expect it will be a big heat for those who would like to upgrade their gaming experience. You can contact me for more information if interested.

Comment on How to Stop Crashes in Modern Warfare PC & Xbox One – Call of Duty by Steak https://www.gamingfeature.com/modern-warfare-crash-pc-xbox-one/#comment-817 Wed, 18 Dec 2019 23:11:34 +0000 https://www.gamingfeature.com/?p=9953#comment-817 I have tried most of these. maybe you can help with my issue. im running windows 10 with an i2550k and a 1070ti, and 32g of ram and a big special fan on my PROC. I’ve disabled every overlay I can. but basically when I run the game it almost seems like the game sucks up every bit of memory I have. discord starts struggling to even function. but inevitably the game always crashes. particularly once I joined a big map with tall buildings, I got like 3 FPS before the game crashing. is there a way I can monitor what exactly the issue is and diagnose this?
